Season 2 Spoilers

Our favorite cast is filming again and that means Season 2 is on the horizon! It also means it’s time for some Season 2 Spoilers!
Thanks to TV Guide Megabuzz for this tidbit that teases how the werewolves and vampires will interact.
How will the vamps and weres interact on The Vampire Diaries? — Tamara
MICKEY: “In our world, our vampires know very little about the werewolf mythology, other than what anybody who’s watched Wolfman or read books has learned,” says executive producer Julie Plec. “They’re going to be surprised at what they can do.” Well, not everyone will be surprised. Katherine, it turns out, has a long history with the werewolves of Mystic Falls.
And MTV Hollywood Crush had a talk with Kevin Williamson and he revelaed that we might be seeing a new love triangle this season!
“Something happens in the first episode that’s sort of a game changer,” Kevin said… And, thankfully, the game-changing event will also include our favorite female sidekicks, Katerina Graham and Candice Accola.
Actually, Kevin said he’s excited to give the show’s sideline characters a lot more camera time in season 2. “What’s nice about this is that Matt, Caroline, Tyler, and Bonnie were all sort of our secondary characters — they are not part of the triangle. Now, all the storylines I wanted to tell last year and didn’t have time, I can tell them. I’m grateful I can tell the stories I’ve been sitting on. It will involve Caroline and Bonnie and Matt and Tyler, and a new triangle will be born.”

Also Ausiello revealed that we will be getting a new mysterious character this season who will be played by Courtney Ford (Dexter).
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Courtney Ford — a.k.a. Trinity’s daughter on Dexter — has landed the potentially recurring role of Vanessa, a grad student at Duke who helps Damon, Alaric, and Elena go through Isobel’s old research.
“She’s not without her own intrigue,” he [Kevin Williamson] told me. “It’ll be a nice little part for someone. And it’s a part that could evolve into this massive story line or we could gut her like a fish.”

PopStar Interview with Zach Roerig

Popstar has a new interview with the lovely Zach Roerig, where he talks about his role on the show, what distinguises Vampire Diaries from Twilight and True Blood and his plans for off-season.
Here are some excerpts of the interview:
What do you see as Matt’s function/purpose in the VD universe and specifically when it comes to Elena?
Matt is a constant reminder that, although incredibly strange, Mystic Falls still has some semblance of the typical American town. Up to this point he is a pretty true-to-life depiction of your all-American boy, and who wouldn’t want to see how the all-American boy will react when placed in such a bizarre situation? In terms of Elena, Matt will always connect her to the way things used to be before her parents’ death, the arrival of vampires, and every other crazy thing that she has been subjected to in the series.
What are some facets of Matt, maybe a storyline, that you’re eager to explore next season?
Although the audience has learned a great deal about Matt’s personality throughout the first season, as a character he still has a lot of room for growth.
What plans do you have for your off-season?
I am going to stain my barn in Ohio, catch a couple waves in California, grab a bagel in New York, and go for some cheese and baguettes in Paris.
More details about the major death
We missed to post this info from the awesome people at SpoilerTV, they have more info about one of the deaths happening on the finale.
An insider has confirmed to us that:
- The death is a series regular.
- Elena, Stefan, Damon and Tyler are all safe
- It is a real death: no coming back no changing.
- It is one of the people in the poll below (Well..at least one death.. there may be others plus non series regular deaths)
The people included on their poll and therefore in danger are: Matt, Jeremy, Bonnie, Caroline, Alaric and Jenna.
Oh my… am I the only one absolutely not ready to say goodbye to any of those characters? Who do you think may be the one to die? Or who do you HOPE it’s not the one? Speculate away!
Thanks to PunknDisorderly for the heads up!
Iesb.net Interview with Candice Accola

Filed under Cast & Crew, General News, Interviews
Iesb.net has interviewed Candice Accola about her career and Vampire Diaries. She gives some hints about what’s in store for Caroline and the lovely couple Matt & Caroline in the upcoming episodes, as well as for the show in general.
Here’s a excerpt of the interview:
IESB: What was it about the show and the character that was appealing to you?
Candice: With the show, I was just excited to have the opportunity to audition for Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, let alone work with both of them. That definitely set a tone for what this show had the potential to be. With everything that Kevin Williamson is and has done, with the Scream franchise and I Know What You Did Last Summer and, most significantly to my childhood, Dawson’s Creek, and also what Julie Plec did with Kyle XY, they just set a great tone to it.
And then, for Caroline herself, she was just fun. I loved her humor in the pilot, and how vulnerable she was at the end, when Stefan (Paul Wesley) turns her down and she talks to Bonnie (Katerina Graham) about never being the one that gets the guy. I can definitely relate to that. So, I was hoping that Caroline would grow and they would allow her to become that relatable girl in high school, who goes through all the trials and tribulations that we all go through, and that I went through myself. And, that is exactly what she is growing to be and is becoming.
IESB: Because so much happens on each episode of the show, do you get as excited and anxious to read the next script, as the audience does in watching it?
Candice: Yes. They actually had to start hiding scripts and telling crew members who get early copies of scripts to not let us read it because we’d read pre-versions that weren’t solidified yet and then things would change. So, we’re definitely script hungry. Anytime we can get our hands on one, we’re just as excited as everyone else is, just to see what happens. The make-up trailer will be very, very loud, and then, as soon as the scripts come out, it goes silent and all you hear are random gasps, every couple of minutes.
IESB: Are there any hints you can give, as to what’s in store for Caroline? Is there anything that you’re particularly excited about viewers getting to see, by the end of the season?
Candice: I’m really excited for the viewers to see the show itself. There’s so much that happens in the rest of the season. It just doesn’t stop. It keeps going and going, and gets crazier and crazier. For Caroline specifically, I’m just excited for everyone to be able to see her grow. She’s becoming not just the girl who sees a situation for what it is, but who also sees the bigger picture of things. You’ll see how she’s relating to her friends and taking responsibility for her actions, and not just saying the wrong thing, all the time. That’s what I’m the most excited about with Caroline.
IESB: With Caroline and Matt becoming closer, what has it been like to work with Zach Roerig?
Candice: He’s great. We all, immediately, got along so well as a cast, shooting the pilot in Vancouver, and it’s really carried on and made the on screen relationships really easy and fun. He’s a blast to work with.
IESB: Will viewers continue to get to see that relationship develop?
Candice: I would love to have an answer about where that relationship is going, but I have no idea. In the next couple of episodes, it definitely continues to grow. I loved that moment, during the episode with the double date, where they’re in the car. There’s a whole new vulnerability to the relationship. I’m excited to see what’s going to happen in Season 2. I don’t really know yet.

Zach Roerig Talks to Inspire Magazine

Inspire Magazine has talked briefly with Zach Roerig about The Vampire Diaries and Matt.
Vampire Diaries has been getting a huge buzz with young adults, what did you expect from the audiences when first landing the role of Matt?
“I really didn’t know what to expect to be honest. Our demographic is a pretty honest bunch, so I knew that if they hated me, I would find out pretty quickly. Luckily that did not end up being the case.”
Could you tell us about your character and what his role is in the show?
“Matt is the embodiment of the all-American teenager, but with a greater deal of depth then we are used to seeing. He plays football, parties and hooks up with girls but the audience is also presented with several opportunities to see his sensitive and protective sides.”
First Look at Damon with Matt’s Mom
If you’ve been following spoilers, it’s no secret by now that Damon and Matt’s absentee mother, Kelly, who will be played by the awesome guest star Melinda Clarke (The O.C.). EW.com offers now a first preview at an upcoming scene between both characters and… whatever you feel about these two hooking up, you can’t say that isn’t HOT.
“The two of them hit it off instantly and form a bond that results in some hard-core flirtin’ and sexin’,” coos exec producer Julie Plec, who notes that “Damon isn’t just about the high school girls. He’s a worldly guy, so watching him sex it up with a real woman was very exciting.”

Zach Roerig Interview
February 1, 2010 by Alex

Betty confidential has a new interview with Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan), he talks about the show, his character and the direction he would like and more!
Here are some excerpt:
Warning: the interview may contain little spoilers, nothing too big.
When Matt finds out Vicki’s dead, is he going to go after Damon and Stefan [Paul Wesley]?
Matt’s definitely going to seek redemption. I’m not sure he’s going to know what direction to go in, but he won’t stop till he figures it out. It may not mean staking a vampire in the heart, but he’ll do something. I’m just waiting to see what’s in store for the rest of the series. It started out focusing on Elena, Damon and Stefan, but Bonnie [Katerina Graham] and her witchy ways are going to become a bigger part of the show; the town’s people who are trying to secretly hunt for vampires will be out in force; there are new characters popping up, so there’s a lot more to come. I’m just as excited as the viewers to see it unfold.
Elena has moved on with Stefan. And now Matt seems to have formed an unlikely bond with Caroline [Candice Accola]. Will we see Matt get with another girl soon?
Matt will always be there for Elena and she’ll probably always be the number one girl for him. But at the same time, he’s 17 years old and in high school, so the truth of the matter is that he’ll probably go for another girl. But we’ll have to see how the writers feel about that.
As a viewer, do you think Matt and Elena should be together?
I think it would be a nice little twist — eventually. Would I want them to stay together? Probably not, because I think it’s always more exciting when you don’t have a happy couple. The struggle is the fun part to play and watch.

More Details on Melinda Clarke’s Role
January 25, 2010 by Alex

Michael Aussiello at EW.com has shared new info about Melinda Clarke’s new role in Vampire Diaries and reveals who she’s going to be hooking up with…
Executive producer Kevin Williamson tells me that Matt’s trashtastic mother, Kelly, will blow into Mystic Falls and waste no time digging her cougar claws into Ian Somerhalder’s Damon.
“If I didn’t have Kelly and Damon hook up there would be no God,” declares Williamson with a laugh. “What’s the point of doing TV if you’re not going to put those two characters together? That’s going to be a fun relationship to explore.”
Of course, Williamson points out that Kelly Donovan has more to offer than a reputation as a bad mom and a healthy appetite for vampire sex. Clarke’s character also shares a rich history with the town’s adult population. “We’ll reveal that she was friends with Sheriff [Elizabeth] and Elena’s mother,” he says. “The three of them were really tight friends back in the day. Sheriff and Kelly, in particular, have ongoing issues to deal with.”
So what do you think? Excited about these hooking up?
