• 07/09/10 – Taylor Kinney will be joining The Vampire Diaries as the original character Mason Lockwood, the younger brother of Mayor Lockwood a.k.a. Tyler’s uncle. The actor will be first appearing in the season 2 premiere, the character is described as Tyler’s “cool” uncle, Mason is sexy and athletic and possesses an easygoing charm. Though he has more control than his nephew, he can “flip in an instant” if crossed.

I will say that Bonnie is really, really tough in the first episode back. She is not playing around. Bonnie will eff you up if you mess with her! She is also going to have to deal with Katherine. And that’s a whole new beast. Literally.

PW: In the finale she made a very ominous threat to Stefan — will season two see her sticking to that?
Kat: Yea. She really means that – she’s not going to help them any more.

PW: And I would imagine her powers will only continue to grow?
Kat: Oh yea, she’s going to become even stronger. But it’s important she stay vulnerable too. You don’t want someone to raise hell with no motivation behind it. You can never forget the loss of a loved one and I don’t think she’ll ever get over losing her grams. That was her rock to this world. She wouldn’t do anything simply out of a hate for vampires. I don’t think she could ever justify that.

Is it true that Tyler is going to turn into a werewolf on the show?

If you’ve read the books, you know that Tyler eventually turns into a werewolf. That will inevitably happen (on the show), but I think it will happen in season 2. Before any of that happens, we’re going to get into the Lockwood family in general, and Tyler’s daddy issues. We’re going to be able to see his relationship with his father and mother, and how he comes from this dysfunctional family. Read more.

Ausiello: Indeed you will. “Damon is obsessed with Elena’s doppelganger, and if one day Elena’s doppelganger is not in the picture, it’s an immediate transference,” explains exec producer Julie Plec. “We’ll see him have an evolution of feelings for her. Well, werewolves are the new trend, you know, but The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley tells us this: “I know that in the books that happens, but it hasn’t been confirmed—it’s been insinuated.” But if Paul has his say—which we’re guessing he will—he’s totally on board. “It’d be fantastic. And I played a wolf on a series called Wolf Lake, which was a very short-lived show on CBS, so I love the idea of it because I’ve done it.” (E!Online: Watch with Kristin).
